In-Person Social Skills Training

At the Social Skills Center, we believe that good social skills are needed to lead a successful life. This is why we provide in-person social skills training to children, adolescents, and adults in Virginia. We have locations in Fredricksburg, VA, Oakton, VA, and Woodbridge, VA.

We facilitate both individual and group social skills training sessions. Our sessions are led by Dr. Christopher Haley, a seasoned clinical psychologist. As such, you can expect significant improvements after every session. Here’s a look at the advantages and processes of our in-person social skills training services.

Advantages of In-Person Social Skills Training

Our face-to-face social skills training services provide a wealth of benefits to the people who take them, like:

Better Relationship Formation and Management

Lack of social skills may prevent you from forming and maintaining relationships. This is essential not only in making friends but also in creating networks for your career. Our coaches help improve your communication and empathy skills so that you’ll have an easier time approaching people and forging meaningful relationships with them.

Improved
Self-Confidence

Confidence is an essential trait that motivates you to do better at the things you want to do, be it work, studies, or even just your hobbies. It’s also important in relationships, be it platonic or romantic, as you need the confidence to express what you truly feel. We’ll teach you techniques that help you boost and maintain your confidence, so you can always put your best foot forward.

Enhanced Problem Solving Skills

Conflicts are bound to happen in your life, no matter how young you are. It’s important to have the proper communication skills to understand other people’s perspectives and cooperate with them to solve a problem. Our trainers teach methods that help you provide healthy responses to every challenge you may come across in life.

A Safer Space

Mental health conditions like social anxiety may prevent you from interacting with others because you’re afraid of being judged or rejected. The group sessions we offer provides a safe space for you to speak your mind and connect with others. Our members and coaches understand and accept your situation unconditionally.

Overview of Our In-Person Social Skills Sessions

Now that you know the advantages of social skills training, it’s time to get started. Here’s an overview of our in-person social skills classes.

Individual Social Skills Training

If you want to improve your social skills without discussing your issues with your peers, we offer one-on-one training.

  • Preliminary Consultation

Contact us through email or call one of our locations to schedule a initial consultation with Dr. Haley himself. During the consultation, you’ll discuss your or your loved one’s social capabilities and mental health. You’ll also talk about payment and scheduling options. Once you agree to our terms, Dr. Haley will create a plan for your future appointments.

  • Start of Individual Training

Once you subscribe to our services, we will give you a schedule to visit our facility for individual social skills training. You’ll work with a licensed professional who will teach you techniques and concepts to improve the way you communicate and interact with other people.

Group Social Skills Training

Our group training allows you to learn proper social skills and practice them with your peers. You’re sure to gain a new friend after every session.

Initial Consultation

We’ll primarily discuss your possible problems with social interaction. Our staff will answer any questions you may have about the program as well.

Intake Appointment

When you finally sign up for our sessions, we’ll administer an intake appointment. Here, your assigned licensed professional will ask deeper questions about your social skills and mental health.

Individual Session(s)

Before you join a group, you’ll have an individual social skills session with your licensed professional. This, along with the information from the intake appointment, will help your social skills trainer determine which group would be best for you to join. Rest assured, we’ll always place you into one that matches your age group.

Start of Group Training

We’ll provide you with a schedule for your group training. After every session, your trainer will catch up with you on how you use your newly-learned techniques in real life. They may also ask questions about your goals when it comes to improving your social skills.
